Awesome WRECK and reef diving.. Believe it or not, due to the sheer number of wrecks, the reefs on the wrecks are AMAZING.. its not uncommon to find BIG fish swimming through the wrecks either.
Accomodation
There are three Accomodation options in Truk:
Blue Lagoon (which is the best by far)

Truk Stop Hotel (which is basic but okay)

and
Liveaboard (Comfy and semi luxurious)

The considered options used to be:
Blue Lagoon for recreational divers
Liveaboard for the techies
However, now that the liveaboards tend to remain anchored in one spot most of the time, the considered opinion is either of the Hotels, especially as the Truk stop has recently been refurbished.
Getting There
Whatever way you get there, its a pain......
Youre realistc options are to either:
a) get an around the world ticket
b) fly to malaysia / Australia / Japan, then onto Guam, and then get the island hopper
c) fly to hawai and get the island hopper
its a pain, but its worth it
Duration
Dont even think about going for less than 1 week.... you wont even scratch the surface.... i would suggest at a minimum, 10 days.
Costs
Realistically, expect to pay between 130-200USD per day for accomodation and diving.
Costs are found on the above websites.
Drink costs: expect 3-4 USD per can of beer.... hence most people bring their own in Duty free lugguage....
Food: budget about 10-20USD per day for food
Tipping: The americans ruined it, so expect to tip the staff and the dive crew each, between 5-10USD per day... trust me on this, they will come to your room to collect this...
